Bahrain’s economic landscape is witnessing a transformative phase, with a strong focus on building sustainable global partnerships. In this context, Dr. KJ Purshottam, a distinguished entrepreneur from Bangalore, has recently taken on the role of Trade Commissioner for the Bahrain–India Trade Council. His leadership promises to deepen bilateral relations and unlock new opportunities for trade and investment between the two nations.
At a high-level engagement in Bahrain, attended by Members of the Royal Family, the Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, business societies, and international representatives from over ten countries, the groundwork for the Bahrain–India Trade Council was laid. The event welcomed voices from China, Norway, Brazil, the European Union, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, making it a truly global dialogue on trade and economic diplomacy.
The deliberations highlighted Bahrain’s position as a gateway to the Gulf and its potential for exports, cross-border partnerships, and investments in key sectors. The forum also reflected India’s growing role as a partner in driving economic diplomacy and internationalization.
Speaking at the gathering, Her Excellency Shaikha Marwa bint Abdulrahman bin Mohammad Al Khalifa emphasized Bahrain’s vision: “Our goal is to create bridges of cooperation that strengthen Bahrain’s role as a hub for global trade.”
Ms. Maram Anwar Al-Saleh, Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Bahrain, added: “Partnerships like these are not just about trade, but about building long-term trust between nations.”
From the Indian side, Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of the Indian Economic Trade Organization, reinforced the message: “This council will create a strong platform where businesses from both countries can expand with confidence.”
At the center of this initiative stands Dr. KJ Purshottam, who is not only leading as Trade Commissioner of the Bahrain–India Trade Council, but also planning direct investments in Bahrain’s economy. His commitment to fostering collaboration between entrepreneurs, investors, and governments will strengthen Bahrain’s positioning as a preferred destination for Indian and global businesses.
The formal launch of the Bahrain–India Trade Council is set for December, but the momentum is already underway. With Dr. Purshottam’s vision and leadership, the council is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping new trade routes, diversifying investments, and promoting Bahrain as a strategic hub for global business expansion.
